3/8/25 Oh Right, Surgery…
This morning we finally heard from the hospital and went over for pre-op testing. After striking out a few times in the lobby trying to figure out where to go, we made it to the busy 14th floor (thanks Dr. Amay!) There seemed to be some kind of system, having each test in a different area and patients moving through the steps, but it sure felt like Christ was a ping pong ball. The disorganization was at least thorough—blood draw, height, weight, blood pressure, some kind of suction cup test they didn’t allow me in the room for, EKG, new MRI, 2-hour fasted clotting test, and a few others I’m sure I’m forgetting. It took way longer than we expected, but the stress relief of finally moving forward is immeasurable and everyone was extremely kind.
I can only imagine how most other people (especially in such a state of pain!) would be handling the lack of communication from Indicure since we’ve been in country. They had been impeccably prompt with every single detail until now. It’s understandable that Dr. Mazda Turel had to go out of town for an emergency, and we have tried our best to stay calm as I’m sure everyone is stressed trying to figure out the plan moving forward, but it would be nice to have regular updates. Even if the update is no update..!
After a quick rest and early dinner, we decided to check out the movie, Chhava, at the historic theatre we passed on our way home. There were no subtitles, but it was thoroughly amusing to watch the fight scenes. I plan to find it streaming somewhere so we can actually know what was going on, especially since we left at intermission for fear of falling asleep in our seats. Thankfully the walk home was not too stimulating and we both passed out before 10.
