3/20/25 From healing to Training

We stopped for nourishment on the drive home from the airport, unloaded the car, and the expected crash has not hit yet.

I grabbed the perfectly uncut crimps above the door and began to weight them. I noticed the asymmetrical pull through each arm and attempted to find a centralized symmetry as I increased the load onto my hands. I’m not sure I could even  take my entire body weight into my fingers at the moment. The narrow pull and deconditioning of my fingers lit up my weaknesses immediately, but I continued to play with protraction and retraction as I gradually changed the load. Within seconds I was toast, but the itch to hang return just as quickly.

Throughout the night my body sought out various inputs from swinging and hanging to upside-down weight bearing. Christ and I casually sipped teas, beet juice, and water in the quest to rehydrate after travel. We discussed climbing techniques, training plans, and supplementation. Christ hung from the bars in the ceiling and discussed his long-term goals. We collaborated on steps of the process and considered how physiological healing will impact the timeline. The energy was growing as the possibilities and potentials of the future flowed through us. Excitement was protruding from every cell, reverberating off the concrete walls, and compounding within each other.

This is not what 30 hours of travel usually feels like.
